Thanks Jim. I downloaded your photos and enhanced them on my computer. With all the staining, it's hard to make out for sure. In hand though, can you see a crack? I seem to make out a crack that goes through the two outer bands of the wheat stalk and towards the rim. But it doesn't meet the rim...which could indicate an earlier die stage. In review of the MM, I see what looks like a bit of MD above the lower arch and a split on the lower serif. Details inside the upper arch appear different than the Coppercoins listing, but again, die stage could be a factor here. Placement of the mm appears correct. To further trouble efforts, the listing at Wexler's site is a damaged specimen. In hand assessment with a loupe might be the best way to confirm what you have there...or don't. Good luck.
Thanks for the assessment Kevin. I don't see it, although maybe as you say, in early stages. Certainly not pronounced. I'll send it in for pro grading, was alreaday planning to have it encapsulated as I'm currently in a slabbing mood. Thanks!
Anytime Jim. Always happy to help a fellow enthusiast. I think you might have it myself but I've been fooled before. Fingers crossed for you since that would bump up the value of that coin very favorably. Let us know how you make out, one way or the other. Good luck on that nice coin!
Update from seven weeks ago. I sent it in to PGCS for grading and variety attribution. It came back unvarietied and ungraded questionable color. Well when I sent it in for premium grading I thought I would get answers rather than questions. Nevertheless, I wanted a professional expert opinion and that's what I got.
I have a fingerprint coin myself I kind of prefer this way than trying to play with it it’s a nice coin I wouldn’t want to ruin it
