Just want to confirm that this 45-D Jefferson Nickel is an RPM-002. Please vote in the attached poll, and if you don't know, please make that your choice.
I need to look in the morning. The die markers don't seem to match anything on VV the position is closest IMO to 005, But I have had a few beers. Have you taken a look at Wexler's site? The D's start about half way down. http://doubleddie.com/1469045.html
Yeah, you might have had too many beers. It definitely looks closer to 002 than 005 to my eye. I don't usually use Wexler's site because my hand cramps up from the scrolling, I use Variety Vista.
I looked over Wexler this morning, He only has 33 listed. Yours seems to be a SE RPM because of the split serif seen at the top. Also the separation line on -002 is in the inside of the D. Yours shows the separation on the outside of the upright. Also -002 starts to show that split serif at about stage E. But your coin does not show the die cracks. I really can't figure which one it is. Do you plan on removing the PVC from this Jefferson and getting brighter photos?
NO, this coin is toast. I bought a gem grade Jefferson album which somebody raided for the war nickels and replaced with chemically cleaned PVC contaminated coins. They all look terrible and are on sale on FB right now. That said, I like to document photographically every RPM, DDO, & DDR that I encounter in my travels, and I just want to attribute this RPM properly.
I voted IDK but it sure looks like a RPM to these old eyes. Which one? I really don't care so can't be of much help.
