Hello everyone, Yesterday evening I did a 3 hour Metal Detecting hunt at my local park.. St. Mary's in the Bronx NYC. Did well this time with 2 US Silver coins.. Silvers #43 & #44 detected in 2021 1928 - Winged Liberty Head Dime 1940 - Silver Washington 9 Wheat Cents.. Everything..
I also found this 1950's era Lucky Cent Holder but the Cent was missing.. Pictures of the same item from the internet..
Pretty good haul for a three hour tour, Ed. Just curious, but do you keep a plot map of the areas you have searched in all of the various parks and locations?
Yes.. In my head.. I like to go back to good spots. There have been many times I will hit an area the next day and find stuff I missed! My CTX3030 has a GPS program to mark the spots where items are detected. You can connect it to a computer and get a map. I've never used it.
Wait until you hit 65. You will be hooking it up to a computer because you will have explored every location in NYC. Look out suburbs, here comes the Paddyman.
You know that whomever lost the dime and the quarter were chaffed about losing them. That would be like losing $2-$5 today.
Thanks. I thought it was. It's bent like it is. I'm not sure because I didn't examine it well enough. I will soon.
Just curious, Ed. Have you every contacted the local police to see if those bullets might have any interest to them? While the photo of them isn't that good, they appear to be undamaged to the greater degree. As a former cop, my mind jumps to things like a shooting in the park and they missed the important evidence. Bullets can be matched to solve crimes. Just wondering.
Like your "winged " liberty head dime...you must be the park's caretaker...in 3 hours all the grass is cut and the soil turned over at the base of large trees....seriously though, it's your discipline that makes you so successful...just curious, when and how was the park formed...in Chicago, for instance, a lot of waste from the great fire was used as landfill along the lakefront...lots of goodies maybe!...great photos...
hey @paddyman98 great to see you made it through your dental mishap. great finds on your latest trip. good job man, good luck to ya
