I rarely see any mention of doubled dies on foreign coins or on coins this old. But I bought this coin earlier today and was wondering. What type of doubling is this? The doubling is on the reverse, (2 Kopek side)
Looks like strike doubling to me, so not a double-die :/ I don't know if they carry much of a premium, but U.S. coins with strike doubling don't. Ben
yes, I believe that it is a DDR, and apparently the dbling was on the design, then the words added to the die. Interesting.
Please remember it's doublED not double die. It will help you to learn why. Please remember it's doublED not double die. It will help you to learn why. It's the die itself that is doubled first, not the coin - that comes later. When we say doublED die we are not first and formost talkng about doubling on a coin - doubling on a coin could be any type of doubling. "Doubling does not a doublED die make".
