"Oh my goodness, the US MINT is putting out ANOTHER overpriced and undersized silver coin? I saw on r/coins and youtube they will be great for investment"
You're just looking at computer generated images. There are currently no MS70 Morgans or Peace in existence but there's about to be for $85. People pay five to six figures for MS68 Morgans. You must also feel that MS69,70 ASEs are pale imitations of the walking liberty half?
True. The IMAGES could be better. I would be interested if they were going to mint proofs. I do like the proof ASEs and I collect them.
OMG!! OMG!! LOL you guys make me laugh. That 2.67 grams (0.0858 troy oz) of missing copper is just devastating to so many.... That just ruins it! Wa! AWaa! AWhaa! LOL Again, I would have liked them either way. I accept the fact that the mint took a hard fork in the road and went with all .999 for everything two years ago and that's just what it is now. I could MAYBE understand the anger if 90% blanks were sitting there and they decided to instead go .999. But probably still wouldn't be upset over it. For a 100th anniversary I think anything goes, as we saw with the 2016s which I was a fan of. They're using pure silver! It's not like it's pot metal! People love .999 ASEs. These are going to be similar. I would say original composition is the least of the real issues with this release. But some people gotta find a reason to whine and justify to themselves not buying them. Ok, do what you gotta do to convince yourself. Overpriced? Meh...yeah, ok. Maybe they are but look around! WTH isn't overpriced these days? Maybe I've just been beaten down by price increases but I was happy they're going to be released under a hundred. People are going to pay much more than that for them on the aftermarket......soooo I guess they're not really overpriced either... Some people are just stuck in 1997 OR, think that every mint issue is supposed to match spot price of silver to some extent when it's released. I agree, it'd be great but those days are gone.
I might go for them, but not on the 24th. Maybe a few years from now on the aftermarket when the prices are reasonable. Especially if people go nuts and they sell out. The only thing I really want though is the Peace dollar in Proof. If they don't put out proofs later in the year I'll probably just pass on the coins completely.
I'll try to get one of each, even though I think they are overpriced. I'm currently rehabbing a knee replacement so I have plenty of time and medication.
I'm not buying the privy marked ones, I may not buy the Mintmarked ones, but If I do it will be just one of them and Probably the D mintmark. If I do buy any of these it would be the Peace Dollar, and just one of the morgans. So I may try for the D mintmark one since it's earlier, then go for the Philly Peace dollar on the last round. I think one is as good as another really they all have the same product limits, they all will be similar condition and all grade 69 or 70. I just think the privy mark thing is hokey, and out of line. so 1 Peace, 1 Morgan, good enough for me and I don't care which morgan as long as it's not privy marked. However I may just decide against getting any of them and save my money for the 2 coin reverse proof american eagle set. Honestly, that's the most likely thing to happen, Skip these and buy that silver eagle set instead and call it a day. I feel like there's too much room for these Peace and Morgan dollars to be taken into the hobby as commemorative coins, instead of parts of the peace or morgan dollar sets, especially the privy marked ones, but no matter what I think they all will be graded highly and not go completely bonkers on the secondary market, it will go but it's not going to be like "OMG A MS69 or MS70 Morgan dollar!!!!" they all will be, and the vast majority of them always will be for a century or more. I'm sure they will resell well, but I'm not spending all this money on the mint this year (these coins alone if you buy them all $510.00) It's a non-starter so I have to pick the thing I want most and it's either two of these, or the two coin reverse proof silver eagle set and I'm leaning towards the silver eagles because I KNOW there's demand for those long term, and it's a full oz of silver, both reverse proof and likely the last and first reverse proofs of the two different reverse styles. I've spent most of this time since the announcement talking myself down from dropping $700+ on the mint this year for their offerings. I think I'm at the point I can pass on these morgans and the peace dollar now. I've already passed on the silver proof set which I haven't done in years.
No for me as well $$$$$. I am interested in when they will actually release the 3031 t2 silver eagles. If anyone knows that, please!!!
