Photos will help, and there's people here (not me) who are great at grading coins, but you could be looking at anything from $30 to $800 based on the grade and coloration (called brown, red-brown, or red) - most will be brown, with "red" being the most valuable. It could even into the thousands if its a really top-grade coin. Good luck~
Au gave a good reply. Really have to see a pic of it. In all likelihood, we can probably assume it's a normal, BN, well circulated one, as if it were bright red with perfect details and like new, the OP probably would have mentioned it. We all know what the vast majority of IHCs look like. There were only 1,115,000 minted so it's a relatively scarce issue. If there's no bad damage or heavy scratches, it will likely be worth about $60 minimum. If you can read all the letters of LIBERTY on the indian's headband it will be worth $100+. That's generally the range you're looking at for it, without seeing pics.
Let's see some pics Pics of all of my 1908-S Indian Head Cents are found here: http://tinyurl.com/bbzy8y You can use those photos to help you estimate the grade of your coin perhaps.
Very nice with the page of 08 S's~ I love your comment on the G-4 "Pop 3 coin, none graded lower by PCGS"!
Thanks I just wish I could find one in worse, but gradable condition so I could be the first to make an AG-3, FR-2 or even a PO-1!!! These were pulled out of circulation too quickly though because of their low mintage and the coming of the Lincoln cent the next year that it is very hard to find a low grade example under VG that doesn't have other damage to it. Still waiting on photos of the OP's example :hail:
you guys are slipping, I mean yeah there was all kinds of help, and that is good... But nobody warned the op to not clean the coin!
more like $50-$10,000 depending on the grade There are a couple examples graded MS66RD that are near perfection that I think would get around $10k each if sold today. VF-XF coins are going for $145 or so today depending on how they look.
