Before I left the LCS today I asked the owner if he had any bulk wheat cents. He usually sells them in bags of 300 each, but he didn’t have any on display. He brought out a bin containing 241 wheat cents, which I poked through quickly and discovered some very nice coins in. I didn’t have time to pick and choose, so I just bought the whole thing as a lot for 3¢ each. Here’s some of the highlights, but there was more: 1926-S in XF - probably pays for the lot about 3-4x over. Three 09 VDBs This would be a real nice one if not for the corrosion: Also found a 1953-D/D FS-501, among many others. What a fun bag of wheats!
1924-S Lincoln Cent $5. No rare variety, no strings attached, just a good deal for a five dollar bill. Collecting doesn’t have to be expensive. In case you’re wondering about what’s happening around the obverse rim... that’s a striking issue seen frequently on 1924-S. And just for the added interest factor, there’s some pretty nice clashing going on behind Lincoln’s head which doesn’t really show in these pics. Seller pics:
Mail call again, and this one cost $9. Well worth it though. This is really nice for a 1925-S Lincoln. It looks high AU (dare I be wishful enough to say 62BN?) with a very nice strike as far as 25-S cents go. Most of these were real dogs when they left the mint, this one wasn’t. Pretty much all the details are full with no real weak spots that I can see, and there’s quite a bit of mint luster left. Only issue is a little spot of verdigris underneath Lincoln’s bust... might have to give it an acetone dip to stabilize it? Seller pics:
1916 Lincoln Wheat Cent ... $4.85 + $2.00 Shipping Doesn't quite make PL Late die state, I absolutely love the flow lines on this coin!
Not for the lot, but I bought each one of these for less than $50 . . . Actually bought them for less than $40 each. Z
