Hello I was wanting to ask if anybody could tell me if this is a wide am and what else is going on maybe die clash?? Also if these are errors how much does it make this penny worth? Thank you in advance, James
No and it doesn't have anything to do with the AM its the FG although they call it that.No errors the zinc plating is bubbling and will pop at some point. Its also only worth one cent so spend it ASAP.
@James Gordon ...1988 was a transition year, in that, for most of the year the normal reverse with FG (designer's initials, Frank Gasparro) had no serif on the G. Sometime toward the end of the year the reverse intended for use in 1989 was used to finish out the 1988 run. The Reverse of 1989 has the G/FG with the serif. This is simplistic, you can find out more at lincolncentresource.com. The Wide AM reference is used in some publications but this is misleading since they were all WAM until 1992...jmho...Spark
The three cents to look for WAM is 1998, 1999, and 2000. For a close AM you want to look for a 1992. Definitely bubbling in the plating!!! No error or variety there!!! Keep looking!! Good luck!!!!
