My wife didn't know what to get me for Christmas so she suggested I buy coins and give them to myself from her. We are on fixed incomes so we set a $50 each limit on what we were spending on each other.
for months now I have needed a 1959 mint set to finish out my 1959 - 2009 proof set & mint set collection. (Excluding the 1982 & 1983 souvenier sets that are outrageous.)
I have been outbid 30+ times on Ebay and the best retail price I found was from mintproducts.com for $60 plus shipping. I did battle the other night on Ebay and finally got it for $41 with shipping included. A little more than I wanted to pay but at last those 2 empty holes are filled and all is well!!!!!!!!:whistle:

Congratulations! Completing a collecting goal is very satisfying. 1959 was a good year too (my birth year - yeehaw). :thumb:

Thanks! I have decided since the government officially did not make a mint set in 1982 & 1983 I have been picking up the individual coins in AU to Unc. condition rather than trying to buy the sovenier sets that the mints sold. Those have become quite pricey recently. I am getting close to having all of those as well.

There is a souvenier set that was sold at the mint stores.

I have one for 1983 P (I have to check the date but I am sure that it was Philly). They do sell on eBay for about $50 + and I have seen them into the hundreds! Big bucks.

PM me if you are interested.
