Looks like we have recruited another one... Welcome to Paper Money Texmech.. Here is the 5th Issue fractionals... lovely notes.. RickieB
As much as I like the notes and even have some, I will mainly stay with the coins for the time being. I just have a much higher comfort level with my coin knowledge so far, which is not so much. I will though, take a more proactive look at them though and make some purchases. I just know didly sqaut about notes.
RickieB will have to answer that one.... I know as much about US notes as he does about French ones  Dave
Besherg - what a beautiful selection of notes. They are from your country? I have always thought how cool it woudl be to live in a foreign country where i would have easy access to the currency... but then i always think - if i live there, it wouldnt be foreign, and that i would still have the same desire to live in another foreign country.... so i stay where i am lol i am jealous of all the CoinTalk members who live outside the US
These are gorgeous specimens. Between the vibrant colors, and the detailed renderings of some of old mosques and other landmarks make these eye-catching. Thanks for sharing. ~Daniel
Ah...Back in the day when U.S. notes actually had style. These are indeed beautiful. Way better than what's found in our country now. ~Daniel
Wow.. Both notes are beautiful, the back vignette of the $20 with the Small eagle , Lady Liberty and the Capital buildings is an engraved piece of art in itself.
$5 Chief Silver Certificate The $5 1899 Chief Silver Certificate ,this engraving was printed by the US BEP from original master die.I hope to one day find an affordable example. Head of Running Antelope (Ta-to-ka-in-yan-ka a member of the Oncpapa tribe of Sioux Indians. George F.C. Smillie engraved the portrait. This is the only issue of US paper Money for which a Native American was selected as a central feature
$5 Educational SERIES (1896) The Avatar is from a $5 Educational Series note, some US collectors consider this series ($1,2,5) the most beautiful engraved notes in the Silver Certificates,I don't have the $5 or the $2 yet. They are quite expensive in any grade. Here is a nice example of the entire back of the note.
Midas... The reverse of that $2 Note Fr #240-#243 is indeed a unique engraving. These notes can be purchased in lower grades at reasonable prices.. In Grades of AU58 will run anywhere from 2.5K through CHCU66 ~ 6-7K. Expect to pay premium rates for these notes if you really want to buy one. The example I posted is an Fr # 243 is it is very difficult to find these in higher grades...the # 240 and 241s are more common but still have hefty premiums. RickieB

I believe that's the most beautiful bill I've ever seen. Interesting history too. Thanks for posting it and other bills. Very nice collection. After viewing these notes I'm adding paper money to my collections. I wonder if the mint still has the engraved plates? They could make a lot of money by reprinting some of these bills.
RickeB, I didn't know such works of art appeared on our currency. If only the Mint would reprint them as art to be displayed on the wall.
I read somewhere the engraver used the head dress from another tribe on the Head of Running Antelope (Ta-to-ka-in-yan-ka a member of the Oncpapa tribe of Sioux Indians which P.O. both tribes for many moons.
