This coin was just signed by the President. Do you think it will be as popular as the Marine Corps Centennial Coin was? They had to go back to Congress to raise the quantity.

Well I'd like to see the design and maybe a price not to mention the packaging that it comes in first before even having a guess.

No. I don't think this will sell out unless it's an awesome design. Silver could be $30 an ounce by the time it's released (so it might be sold by the Mint for $38 unc) and that will put it out of reach for most casual collectors.

If silver gets to $30 the mint would probably charge $50+

Call me a sinic(synic)??? a party pooper or a downer but I think the idea of using the Congressional Medal of Honor on a coin or currency is a lousey idea. This is our country's highest award. To me it cheapens it and that's an insult to the guys and gals who have earned and most of them the hard way. Let it alone and let it keep it's place as is. zeke

On the contrary Zeke, I believe it raises the publics conscious awareness of that award and, more importantly, of the people upon which that award has been bestowed.

I guess I was kind of hot when I said I don't like this idea of coining the CMH. And I still don't but I do respect your honorable opinion about making more people aware of it. I just think there must be a better way. I grew up during WWII and have a deep reverence for what this medal stands for and to those that earned it.

I agree, (btw: it is the Medal of Honor, the word Congressional comes from Hollywood) it is about recognizing the recipients selfless actions under the most trying of circumstances. Approximately 140 Medal of Honor recepients are still living.

Since I assume they will have an image of the medal on the coin, which version do you think they will show? (Each branch of the military has their own version of the medal.)

There are 92 recipients still living.
