This was an impulse buy because I never figured I could afford a trade dollar and saw this scrolling and put in a bid. I did check price on the PCGS app and if it was problem free in AG-03 it would retail for $125. I came in at $130 with fees. I like big silver coins like Morgans, Peace Dollars, Walkers, Ben's, Capped Bust Halves so I just wanted one. Did my lack of patience and experience screw me? What do you guys think? sorry for bad reverse pic, I don't have it hand yet.
I believe the price was in the ballpark of where it should be. The cleaning shows on the obverse, but it's not cleaned up all shiny.
Nice coin,I would've paid that much trade dollar prices and popularity have exploded can't find them under $100 these days low grade culls are selling for what you paid for that.
I definitely would have gone for it at that price, it's a nice, problem free example! I actually prefer the well-circulated examples to the flashy MS ones, they just look more "original" IMO
No way I'd pay that much for 'details grade'. Damaged goods. Save your money and buy straight graded...........
Personally, i wouldn't have paid that much, but I'm a 30+ year collector who buys raw trade dollars on occasion. If it were mine I'd crack it and let it sit on my nightstand for a year or so, maybe it'd grow a new skin.
I wouldn't carry it, i don't see hairlines to wear off. Just leave it sit out to tone. First it'll turn brown, then the brown will turn grey. The time, it'll vary, depending on temp and humidity.
There’s no buyer’s remorse when you made a good buy on an item that will hold its value, as here, look at it that way. Something better comes along, unload it, get your money back on it. Meantime, enjoy it in your collection.
Trade dollar prices appear to have gone up recently, at least on eBay. I don’t think you overpaid. It looks good for a details coin, and it is authenticated.
I'm good with the coin at that price as well. I have 7 TD's, average cost was $180, grades are from G to AU55. All were bought raw, and those that I have had graded have come back details (wasn't surprised at all). But TD's are strong on the market, and I believe the details TD's don't get clobbered like other series.
