How Aurelian restored the Roman Empire

Ok! Here are some of my Aurelian-related coins

A nice colourful and silvered RESTITVT ORBIS antoninianus


2 rare Dacia reverse antoninianii that I was about to list on eBay for cheap (because I didn't know what they were), and then noticed that they are rather rare and expensive. I was going to send them off to auction, but decided to keep them both for my collection! I have since cleaned most of the green stuff off with a dental pick


A very rare sole reign antoninianus of Vabalathus. Note the spelling error 'VHABALATHVS' and the use of an Є instead of an E. This was because the coin was minted by inexperienced Greeks


An unlisted as of Aurelian, with SA (technically digamma A) in exergue. I have never seen a coin like this, with both Aurelian AND Severina's officina in exergue. I have no idea why it's like this, but it is what it is. As far as I know, this coin is unique.

Great coins. Yes, the DACIA FELIX reverse is quite scarce and historically interesting. After all, Dacia is the province which Aurelian relinquished to the Goths, which was one of the ways how he stabilized the Danubian border.
Here is one from my collection:

 

I recognize that coin! It was from a Roma auction I think? Fantastic piece!

On some sources I see the reverse character is considered Orbis Terrarum; in RIC it is also considered Victory.

I love the Dacia reverses.
I find Aurelian to be very photogenic.
Here is mine with a SOL/ORIENS reverse. The then minor cult of SOL was introduced to Rome by Aurelian I believe.

While not the highest grade, my favorite Aurelion has a little lion in exergue.


At least the lion is definitely a lion. The dolphin of ' Uncertain Balkan mint' leaves some doubt. The obvious question is "Why?". ROMAE( AETER)NAE
