FUN 2022: Hoping FUN 2022 is a blast and hope that we can all meet up for more than a few minutes like the last time.

I think the key, as I posted earlier, is for all of us to be in the same hotel. So once FUN 2022 is confirmed location-wise, let's determine which hotel is the closest and then we can all book early.

It's so much easier to hang out, have some drinks, a snack, or dinner when everybody is in the same location/hotel. As it was my 1st time to FUN in 2020, I just booked a cheap Rosen place about 3/4 mile away from the OCCC and the hotel where most of the CoinTalk Members stayed. Mistake on my part but understandable.

Let's try and avoid that for FUN 2022. Will make it alot more fun, IMO, if we can all hang out during non-convention times. I'm also told if you book early, even at the premium hotels, you can save some nice $$$. :D

Is that the same building as FUN 2020 ?

Which hotel is closest (I presume that is where most FUN attendees will want to stay) ?

I plan to be there as well. I usually stay with a couple of other dealers, and may not be in the same hotel you all end up in . . . we'll see.

Ok....keep us posted....I will be finding out what hotel is closest as the OCCC buildings vary in location.

The show was in the west hall in 2020. The Rosen Centre Hotel was just a short skywalk to the show. Looks like 2022 will be in the south hall, just across the street.
I'll be at the Rosen Centre for sure.

Rosen Centre is right near North/South, as are a few other hotels. I'll probably book there, too, as I doubt the Hilton or Hyatt Regency are any cheaper and are basically the same distance.

Here's the map if anybody needs it:

Don't forget that the 2021 Summer FUN in a couple of months is still a go. Hopefully some CT folks will attend this smaller show.

Maybe I'll go to the January FUN.
I definitely want to go to one.
And I suspect my wife will want to come along.
A chance for her to see a new place; she won't care about the show.

But I'll definitely be going to the Baltimore Whitman show in November (assuming it's going to happen).
But it's still scheduled as a go.

Ah, boo. I definitely prefer the show in the West Hall vs the North or South Halls.

Either way, Rosen Centre is definitely the closest to all of them, and usually has a decent price. Hyatt Regency is way more expensive.

If it's in the South hall, I might consider the Hilton, depending on price. It's the furthest from dining options, but closest to the convention center itself.

Plenty to do there within walking distance or a short shuttle. She won't be bored.

I am leaning to going to that for the 1st time....as we get closer to the date, let's see who else from CT is planning on going...maybe we can all meet up or do dinner or something.

The West Hall is my favorite but the South will be like going back home like it was years ago.

I’ll be at the tiny July FUN show in Orlando, but just for one day, and I’ll be walking the floor trying to find some inventory to buy. I usually take that show to get away with my wife and dump our kids on my parents, LOL!

Actually, in normal times, it appears that Summer FUN is about 50-75% the size of the January event in terms of dealers. It's not like it's just a 1-day event -- I was surprised they even had one, thought FUN was strictly the January extravaganza.:D

Not sure how attendance is or if there are as many lectures, workshops, etc. Probably still there but cut down in size.

I will go to both FUN shows if they are held.

The Summer FUN Show, even though not as big as the January show, is still a big show by any measure. It is usually about 75% the size of the January show, lasts for three days (or 4 depending on how you measure and what you're doing), has lots of club meetings, and lots of educational seminars. There are usually several Heritage Auctions happening but I haven't seen the Heritage schedule for this just because I haven't looked for it. The FUN website does not currently list the educational seminars because, as you might imagine, trying to plan a show and get commitments in this Covid environment is more difficult than the usual "herding the cats" effort.

But my impression is that if it is at all possible, there will be a show. I live in Central Florida and I go to all the days for both the Winter and Summer shows and I never seem to have enough time. All I really know is that I am saving my cents (not pennys) so I'll have something to spend.

Side note: Taking temps is still nothing but "security theater".
An enormous amount of us who had the virus experienced absolutely no fever.
I in fact was almost hypothermic many times while infected.

I'm also 5 months into the long-haul syndrome and it's no fun for reals...and people who are experiencing a fever are likely feeling too sick to want to go to a coin show lol!

On a lighter note, I am fully vaccinated and still on a steady (albeit very slow) healing curve and am absolutely willing to go to a coin show where people are properly wearing masks (no noses hanging out and no visors rather than masks)...and in locations that are big enough for me to go around those who still don't know how to wear a mask with some good distancing. I won't be going near any tables however where the person running the table isn't properly masked.

It's not about me...although I really don't want to experience this again!...I have people in my life to protect!

As a fully vaccinated person, I won't even consider going to a show where masks are required. I'll wait to see what FUN 2022 rules are, but if they are still requiring masks at that point I'll save my travel money and stay home.

I'm think I may drive down and visit some (non-coin collecting) friends while I'm there.
