I like them when the colors look realistic (like yours do). When the colors make them look "comic-bookish," (like how some of the Statehood quarters are colored), then I don't quite like 'em.

Wow! Do you have the entire Micromosaic Passions set? I read that the mosaic tiles are hand set! Can I look at that one if I mow your lawn?

 

Yeah - the New Zealand Mint has got a lot of CHIBI characters on coins (large heads with tiny bodies). They held a contest (winner announced today) for a Christmas Chibi Character coin design. I participated but didn't win though.
