There is some extra metal above the "in" in the motto. It also seems to curve like it is the end of a letter. Wondering if it is a dropped letter, a die chip, or something else. Thanks.
Is that raised off the coin? Can we get some clearer pictures of it? That circular-shaped black area above it is suggestive something traversed across the coin in that area and took out some of the motto, too. But that's no dropped letter.
Get it out of the scope. Your original picture was good. Just get more light on it and if you can different angles. So we can make out better what it is...
It looks like it's a continuation of that swipe coming down and proceeding through the I and part of the N. It's just post-mint damage. Who knows what did it?
I disagree with that assessment. The coin does have the ring of death but I dont think that caused the raised element. The last picture was bad and made it look that way. I think I agree with @MeowtheKitty
OK. But that's more uncommon in the fields than even he lets on because, well, there's nothing there on the die to chip off. So that's some trick if it's a die chip.
Since it's isolated in the field, it's unlikely to be a die chip. It could be a die dent or a "bleb" (die erosion pit).
Yeah, see. Thanks for dropping in, stranger. Lol, but I agree, there's nothing to chip off, there, hell, it's flat.
