    Howdy,
I can't imagine this coin going through circulation for so long before I put it aside 20+ years ago if it is a strike through on reverse but can't think of what would make this type of PMD and need to verify with the experts if it is either PMD or a strike through. 20210429_162809.jpg 20210429_162818.jpg Image_2021-04-29 16_30_42_740.JPG Image_2021-04-29 16_30_49_280.JPG Image_2021-04-29 16_31_02_454.JPG Image_2021-04-29 16_31_09_238.JPG
    Thanks

    G'day @Bargainbidder

The 3rd picture shows a 'lump' at the top of the damaged area, this SEEMS to indicate moved material and on the 4th picture there is evidence of raised sides to the gouge. These together tell me, just my opinion, that this is PMD via the coin getting caught up in something that was pretty rough on the poor coin. I'll let the experts voice their opinions.

AS an extra, there is evidence on both gouges of undercuts, not laminations imo, that rules out a strike through.

Looks to me like a knife attack as well. The exposed metal repatinated inside which is why it's almost black. Of course, all kinds of crud gets into the crannies of our dirty circulating coins :yack:

Thanks everyone and it was the mark's on wheat stem damage that had me question PMD and why I posted.

PMD, but made you wonder enough to put it away all of those years ago.

Sorry but both areas are just damaged. Not a strike thru and not an error.

    Yeah it did Mountain Man...lol
I was just so busy back then and became a hoarder more than anything else when it came to coins.
