Crossing NGC to PCGS just get same grade?

Like it or not, plastic buyers are a huge part of the hobby and demand.

That's the way I buy.

But if I ever sell, it's foolish to not sell in premium plastic if the coin justifies it. I do not like entombing coins, but you can't deny they expand the market to the plastic collectors.

 

Just got word from PCGS that an early 20th century French gold coin of mine that was in a NGC holder has crossed at the same grade. Why did I submit it? Mainly because I’m trying to build a PCGS registry set. That coin will now be top pop at PCGS. It may have gone up in value, but I’m not sure. Total pop is low at both services. There is still one graded finer at NGC. I’ll post pics when I get them if it can be done and still protect my identity.

Most of my world coins are in NGC holders. So why PCGS for this series? Because when the coin series caught my interest, the first couple that I really liked and bought were in PCGS plastic. I may be AR, but I like a set to be completely one TPG service … no mixed sets.

@calcol PCGS Europe is located in Paris… most graded French coins I’ve seen are in PCGS slabs, the same is true for NGC and German coins. Nobody wants to ship internationally to submit coins if not really needed.
