i am completely beside myself! this weekend i found a 1992 d close am.. what do i do now? i never did get a coin slabbed before but i think i should with this one... where do i go to do this? how much does it cost? which company is the best? what do you think its worth? it has some kind of rainbow type coloring on it so i know that will affect the value, but still an awesome find to me!
Send it to NGC, ANACS or PCGS Send it to NGC, ANACS or PCGS then sell it and buy some more coins. That's what I would do anyway!
which one? lol...NGC, ANACS or PCGS... what do you think it's worth? what does it cost to slab a coin? have you ever got one slabbed before?
Probably NGC, Probably NGC, It's worth whatever buyer and seller agree upon, (depends on final grade). I'm not sure what current costs are you can look it up. I have gotten other coins slabbed before but it's been about 10 years ago.
Ngc I like NGC myself. I haven't had many slabbed but the ones I have I was satisified. You can become a member for $105 and get 5 coins graded for free.
i was just looking into ngc. i'm thinking of joining.. but in order to take advantage of the 5 free submissions i would have to submit all 5 at one time. i'm not sure any other coin i have right now is grade worthy besides this one. i'm contacting a nearby associate (a state away) and inquiring about his fees to send the coin in for me. grooling task but in the end, i hope it's worth it!
about 10,500 rolls... lol... i've found other goodies like the 1997 Doubled Ear (absolutely gorgeous and very easy to see), around 10 2000 wide am and 1998 wide am's, proof's, wheats and more. i believe this is my best find so far.. i'm picking up 10 more boxes tomorrow.. last week was sort of a let down.. 7 out of my 10 boxes were the new boxes of the 2009 presidency coins.. didn't open them but was wishing i had the circulated boxes lol.. i'm setting the new boxes aside not sure what to do with them just yet.
Ship one of the boxes of new coins to me, I'll pay for it! PM me!!! With regard to the 92 D close am, I believe this is only the 3rd one known, so the value would be WAY up there! The other two have not been auctioned, so it seems the sky is the limit. Congrats!!!!!
i'm waiting to hear back from a rep. of NGC... i think i might just join NGC instead of going through the rep... anyway, i PM'd you.. : )
I hate getting those new boxes also. However, I've been flipping them on Ebay for $50-$60 a box, so they're not that bad! Congrats on the CAM!
now you got me thinking! hehe... in your opinion, do you think they're worth hanging onto? you know, as an investment?
Absolutely not! Sell 'em while there is demand. I think they'll be like the statehood quarters. I remember when those first 4 came out people were paying ridiculous amounts of money for them. At the time my mother worked at a bank and there was this one guy that was giving her $1500 for every bag she could get him. I think the 2009 Lincoln craze is going to live a very short life.
yeah, you're probably right.. same with the bicentennial halves. i ordered 5 boxes of them from the bank too. out of all the boxes i could make up an entire box of just those alone! lol... i only found 16 silver pieces out of 2500.00 in halves... kind of dissappointing, but heck, 16 more then i had before! hehe..
No, you're thinking of the P. There are probably 20 or more of the 1992Ds known. Still, it is worth around $1000.
That is the one I am looking for...the 1992 P, I sure would like to have one of the 1992 D's also...don't get me wrong... CONGRATS!!!!
you're right! i just googled the 1992 and 1992 D close am's and it looks like there's only 2 known 1992 cam's and 15 known 1992D cam's. the last one (1992D) sold for 2900.00 at teletrade auction... here's a quote from the site i googled: "The most recent 1992-D Close AM cent to be sold was auctioned off as Lot 1203 in Teletrade Auction 2690 on May 10, 2009, for $2,900. It was graded by PCGS as Almost Uncirculated-53 BN." here's the site i read about it: http://numismaster.com/ta/numis/Article.jsp?ad=article&ArticleId=7661 scroll down to read the amounts they sold for.. thanks for the input. what do you think about the new box of lincolns? should i keep or quickly sell them?
Wow! That's a good price. I guess PCGS is the way to go with this coin. I have no idea about the new cents, but I would sell them for a nice profit before the price plummets, because this always happens with limited edition issues.
oh wow!! i didn't even notice it!!! i was so consumed with the find i didn't even look the coin over very well! lol... it's def. something raised! i'm not real good with error terms yet, but there's something there for sure. i'm gonna try and get a picture of it. brb
