My Best show yet. I had my little bro with me, and he had a blast! He will be posting his own thread later with his pickups from his first ever coin show! We got to meet Pennyguy, Budgood, Jim M, Borgovan, and Covert Coins. It was a fun and I got a good haul Here are just six coins, I've yet to finish looking/attributing/taking pics of them all yet..lol. A Quinarius (?) Of Hadrian... (that or a hemidrachm) I have to attribute it further. Nice stuff stainless , love the Gorgon . Can't wait to see what little Bro got , hope he's not on the darkside yet . rzage
Stainless, That's some great stuff, man. I wish I had more time to talk to you today. I will be at the show tomorrow from 9:30 - ??? (probably 2:00-3:00) I did see Anthony and Jim, both of whom I've met several times. I had hoped to meet up with Covert (whom I've met before) and Pennyguy (whom I've not met), but it didn't happen. Where'd you guys go? I'll be at registratration from 9:30 - 11:30-ish tomorrow, and walking the bourse for a couple of hours after that. I'll be the unmistakably large guy roaming the bourse in shorts and a Hawaiian-print shirt. By the way -- for every person who thought I was a moron walking into the show this morning in 40 degree weather in shorts ------- I had 10 people thinking I was a genius when the bourse heated up to the high 70s Hope to see you tomorrow!!!!!
Sorry I missed you borgovan, got there about 10:30 on Sat and pulled out about 2:00. Great show, everyone did a great job of coordination in the planning, etc. Hats off to you and all the volunteers that make that show happen. A lot to look at and drool over, not a lot for me to buy only because of a pretty short buy list. I did pick up the DC Years Lincolns in Zinc that I needed. ( a real big spender there)
Next time, Gadget, next time! Sorry to have missed everyone. Saturday took me away from the show entirely. I placed an Education Exhibit (Xeno-numismatics: the money of science fiction and fantasy) and actually made the show Friday and Sunday. Friday, I bought from Delia in Row One (1) a Roumanian government bond with coupons and (2) a Glasgow City Railway bond showing payment complete. My purpose is to have evidence that (1) capitalists lose money when governments go to war and (2) women owned property and made investments far ahead of the right to vote. You will find a link to Fall Show Highlights on the MSNS club website here. Saturday night, I attended the first half of the Board of Directors meeting. I missed the Sunday awards breakfast. Dan and Kathy Freeland received an ANA President's Award from Cliff Mishler for their years of service to the hobby. I also brought home with me the entire stack of unclaimed TAMS Journals from the literature table.
The show was pretty good. A little slow today. Friday was the busiest, with Saturday a pretty close second, and Sunday a little laggy. My informal straw poll of the dealers indicated that the vast majority of them were happy with the traffic. For myself, I ended up with about a dozen nicely toned nickels, two or three of which are monsters. Good buys all around, and I certainly plan to attend in the future. To all of you who I saw/met; it was truly a pleasure. To those of you whom I did not catch, I'm sure I'll see you at another show soon. I want to thank the Michigan Treasure Hunters, who co-sponsored the show with my club (Northwest Detroit Coin Club - NWDCC). I was pleased to meet many of you, and your hard work was certainly appreciated.
Nice coins Anthony.. Of course I got to see most of them in person and they were awesome. My son thought you and your bro were cool and was glad we went to the under 17 conference with you.He of course is showing everyone the coins he got at the show. He signed up for the MSNS youth membership while we were there. Was great to see Jim M again and to meet PennyGuy(Bill)and BUDGOOD(great guys). My son thought Pennyguy was really cool becasue he sat down with him and went over all his coins.THANKS. JIM M thanks alot for your advice. JIM help me pick out 3 AWESOME buffs MS 64++ and I got a good deal on them. Anyways Had a great time at the show. Sorry I missed you Bernard and I was looking for you. We left at 2pm on Sat but were there all day Friday. My haul was as follows a 1955 proof set/1954 proof set/Four Fantastic buff nickels/2 Morgans MS 64+. I also bought a Morgan for each of my sons and a silver eagle from there birth years for both. I think I have them both hooked. The dealers were great to my son when he purchase and the one dealers sold to him way below bid. Class act all of them..
