@Italy8686 Not trying to be rude but I gotta tell you, Please don't post pictures of cleaned coins on here again or everybody will flip out on you again(as you probably noticed)...
Everyone who is serious about coin collecting hates, hates, hates cleaned coins, it destroys any value they might have had, so please don't clean coins anymore and if you do you might not want to post them here :(:sorry: If it makes you happy, whatever, but it doesn't make us happy, and you're not gonna get appreciation here for doing that... I'm sorry if I'm causing any offence with this post but it has to be said, I'm trying to help avoid future arguments and ridicule about this...

That is just not true. Go to any coin show. The overwhelming majority...by far....will have mustard and/or catsup stains on their shirt.

Clothes stained and dirty. Personal appearance unkempt (food crumbs in hair/beard/mustache and on seat or table).

    Prove me Wrong.

Yet every time a person posts a coin photo there is a continuous discussion of whether or not it was cleaned. Why comment? Seems a little bit like selective hate/censorship. I wonder if it would be better to suggest such thoughts by PM, rather than publicly. Note that I have read in the last couple of months 4 threads on CT about personal cleaning experimentation /results/running diary commentary by a member.

I don't see why you all don't like the coin. I think it looks cool. You have said it as well, its a worthless coin. Who cares if the OP polished it? Its called a novelty coin. I enjoy doing this kind of thing too. And I seriously don't understand why some of you can't handle people shining coins that are worthless. o_O

They never had any value. And it probably never would have, as it would have just rotted away because of its zinc core.

^^^^ For the simple reason that the OP, like many others, have such limited knowledge, that there is a danger of cleaning a valuable/sought after variety, because they are unable/unwilling to do the necessary research. Their first thought is not "what do I have" but "how much is it worth".
In my original answer above I clearly stated if it was for his own satisfaction, then it is fine

No harm in practicing with a face value coin.

Take a look at the coin after cleaning. Do you see the very light hairlines? Notice that color is slightly off and doesn't look natural? These are the the things that experienced collectors and TPGs can easily spot. And when they see it on a collectable coin, the value drops significantly.

However, if you think you did a nice job and improved the coin, that's wrong. If you did this to a collectable coin in order to improve it, you would lose money (and ruin the coin for future collectors). That's why you hear "DONT CLEAN COINS". If you have a good understand of chemistry and metallurgy, with practice, you might be able to pull it off occasionally, but for the average collector, cleaning coins is like washing your car with fine grit sandpaper. Not a good idea

I like it! The most expensive purchased SLQ in the collection my son and me have is a Corroded Cleaned 1923-S that cost nearly $500 last year (after some negotiation). Don't let the naysayers get you down! That said, I'm too scared to clean a coin, but I have asked for conservation on some of my ICG submissions and I did soak the 1926-D in acetone for 24 hours (and then rinsed in acetone) to see if it would make any difference (it didn't do much). Here are the 1923-S and the 1926-D, which graded straight, btw. IMG_4103.JPG IMG_4105.JPG 23sand26d.JPG

The majority of times "cleaned" arises is when people ask for a grade of their coin.
