I am in the same camp, reference viewing in hand. I tried to zoom in, but no luck. I wanted to satisfy my first inclination of tooling.
I think you meant "half dime". If not, then I will confirm you are seeing things and need glasses. That will be $75.00, please, Check made out to Dr. Charley.
Oops! Well I warned you I was speaking about something I knew nothing about, lol. Thanks, yes I meant "half dime". And, thank you for your offer, but I just got new glasses, I was just still using my old ones. But, I had half cent on my mind. I was showing one to my grandson, and he was having trouble visualizing buying anything for a half cent, lol. At least I have him thinking about coins, and, for now, I'll accept that! Thanks, Dr. Charley!
It would be a risk sending it in but a risk I took sending a LS dime in recently myself. Trying to beat "The Man" for my type set. If it comes back cleaned, i'll still use it because it's still nice and they get really expensive in the condition it's in. If you go through and look at a lot of old LS dimes and half dimes sometimes you will see them straight grade with fine hair lines that you'd never think would pass. Mine has some interesting toning on it so I'm really curious what they'll say. If it was pure white I probably wouldn't have sent mine in but the toning probably took quite a while to form and maybe they'll let it slide. Meanwhile I wait patiently giving it a 20% chance of straight grade.
@Randy Abercrombie, I recalled this thread, wondered if you ever submitted this coin or have something to add to the story?
If you send it in this is my advice, send it to pcgs and add gold shield. It comes with the truview. I have some early bust halves I'm sending in. And for the resale value, if it is a details coin i want to make sure it has every other selling point going with it. This way if your wife or kids like my wife or kids suck at coin selling or photography they have the pcgs photos.
