Well I have new bifocals. LOL. I do think Insider's take is interesting...be cool if you can show it to some coin guy you trust and report back.

  3. Hey Randy, why don't you just take it to our friend in Gilbert. I know for sure you will get the correct answer there.

Out of town, heck, my are out of this country and still traveling. LOL

I certainly understand you wanting your estate in order, to make it easier on those you leave behind, as I too have been doing that.

I am not a fellow that looks for that sort of thing.... However I did put it under the strongest loupe that I have and I do not see doubling of the "38".

I have to get in to see my dealer. He has been texting me worried that I am spending my coin money elsewhere..... I will get him to give me his take on the coin. He is about as savvy a coin man as I have ever known.

That is precisely my plan! How have you been?

Insider, I trust and value your opinions..... Bear in mind this is a half dime. When I think of somebody doing a whiz job, I think of Dremel type tools and wire brushes. This is one tiny coin. You think somebody with enough determination could do a whiz job on a coin this tiny?

  9. I have been staying close to the farm, just got my second covid shot 2 weeks ago. I will be glad when things get back to normal. I plan on going to the Summer Fun show with my son and grandsons. How are you and yours doing?

Fully vaccinated on my end. Never a sniffle at my house.... Well, except for the pollen thing!

A group of us CT guys got together at the last FUN Show. I'll be there if you want to meet and greet.

I see it all the time!

Last week's whizzing census of small coins:

    3 Bust Half dimes
    1 Seated Half dime
    2 Three Cent silvers
    1 3c Nickel
    & about 12 larger coins.

I'm grading a box (289 coins) of early Lincoln and Indian cents right now - 8:21 PM(I ain't got no life :jawdrop:), on coin #69 and three whizzed so far.

Be in touch as the date nears. I usually go every day. You'll know me, I'll be the old, ugly guy looking at coins.

  15. That's what I look like. Just let me know when it gets close to the date. Thanks Steve.

There also seems some residue between the denticles(?) around the rim that would only be removed by brushing. If this coin were human, it would be a guy who never flosses!...or brushes.

I like this response because I, too, feel all my coins should be certified for the same reason as you--so that my heirs won't be taken advantage of by unscrupulous dealers talking down the grades. My wife knows about as much about my coins as she knows about my kitchen. (Notice how I changed your sentence.)

I, too, think the coin has been harshly cleaned.
