Just bought a new cent for my Unc Lincoln collection (still very much incomplete). This is a 1929-S, and one thing caught my eye: there's a raised defect on the left wheat ear. Is this a die crack?

Indeed it is my friend , and that's a nice one. I always love finding one on a coin, I find that it adds a lot to the coin but that's just my preference.

What do you think of it ?

I think it's a lamination issue. If the die had a crack the coin would have a raised line, not an incuse crack like you have there.

I see it raised, and you see it incused.. maybe a new picture could solve this or maybe a fresh pair or contact lenses could help me out. I still think it's a crack :D

Here's a couple more photos. In hand, it definitely looks like the material is raised (but it could always be a folded-over lamination I suppose):

It could be a folded-over lamination, but most likely it's plain old damage. I'd love to see a pic of the obverse. From the reverse, it's looks cleaned and polished to me.

That pic showed it a lot better. Looks like a nice die crack.

OK, here's the obverse. I don't think it's been cleaned or polished, but it might have been tooled...

Also, it has 'ARE YOU NOT ENTERTAINED' lettered into the edge, which is kind of crazy for a US Mint product...
