Ok, I was looking at more 1909S VDB's on ebay on this black Friday. I can clearly see the S on this one but where is the VDB on the reverse? If it is a weak strike, it is really weak! http://cgi.ebay.com/1909-S-VDB-LINC...mQQptZCoins_US_Individual?hash=item1c0e0d7f57
Looks like a fake to me. Way too many problems. The S looks just wrong. The VDB is too corroded to be certain about. I would never buy a key coin, that has a rep for fakes like this one, without a TPGs slab. No return on something like this says STAY AWAY! Bruce
I've admitted in another thread that I am an EBay gambler, but I wouldn't touch this one with a 10-foot pole. The absence of a return policy is enough to stop me by itself almost, irrespective of the low quality.
By all means, ask a question. Let's see if he posts on question on the item. good luck!! Alrighty then!! Guess I missed your other post. :thumb:
It's also interesting to note that most of the bidders are relative EBay newbies, typically having fewer than 100 feedbacks. I've gotten ripped a couple of times on the Bay, and I fear that someone else is about to experience that pleasure.
The first coin that I referenced in this thread sold for $350. The seller did not ever answer my question. The second coin that I've referenced in this thread is still available for the price of $995. I've asked the seller if the pic is of a 1909S cent since I cannnot see the V.D.B. I've yet to get an answer.
WoW~what a wonderful opportunity to look for something better. (Prom night with the Homecoming Queen went like this)
Good call on passing that one up. I am a reformed ebay gambler. lol I used to put my faith in people to be honest on that site but I've found that sometimes the seller might not be trying to rip someone off on purpose, they just don't know any better themselves. Or they are preying on naive buyers. It most definately pays to be educated. I give you props for asking advice on here.
Corroded garbage. If you're buying a key Lincoln, you ALWAYS want to see it in person. It should also be slabbed or from a reputible dealer. It's really not even worth rolling the dice on ebay. Take that $350 and save it until you have enough money to do it right.
