ok it's fake... it's gotta be... but I don't think so... and paypal will cover me if it is... but for $47.00, $53.00 with shipping. I think this is the greatest snipe I've ever made... Someone tell me it's a copy and i got scammed..... I'm shaking over here lol...
Ill bet my left arm its a fake. It doesnt take a genius to figure out a gold coin sold way under spot isnt going to be real.
not true at all, I get silver and gold fairly often under melt value at auction... that's the risk of auctioning without a reserve price. admitedly this one has a big spread, But yes I expect this one probably will be fake but that's the nice part about paypal.. he can say no returns all he wants, but if fake paypal will still give me my money back so not a whole hell of a lot of risk
Only had to go this route once before... in that case they just wanted it sent back and wanted the tracking number before giving me my money back...
The photos are not good, and I'd have a hard time bidding on a coin so depicted, but I don't immediately see any red flags. Keeping my fingers crossed for you . . .
Russian, coming from the russian confederation. Not my 1st order out of there and have had good luck so far
Cyrillic alphabet: "It is currently used exclusively or as one of several alphabets for more than 50 languages, notably Belarusian, Bulgarian, Kazakh, Kyrgyz, Macedonian, Montenegrin (spoken in Montenegro; also called Serbian), Russian, Serbian, Tajik, Turkmen, Ukrainian, and Uzbek" Probably Russia or Bulgaria
It may well be just the pictures, but I do not like that coin. The design details are too mushy for me. In the word "pluribus" the i and b seem to crush together and ditto for the s and t in the word "trust." For the sake of the op, I sure hope it's just the miserable pictures and the coin is real. In Europe are we bombed by fake coins, most of them originate from Bulgaria/Rumania but basically from any other place in the 'east' as well, lot's of fake now from North-Africa till Turkey. Even the major International auction houses do offer them sometimes as a 'stunner', after a while (sometimes) with the help of one little message you see that the specific lot is 'withdrawn'. On E-bay there are tons of fakes being sold as authentic. There is a community of collectors sharing a fake-coin database with all kind of information about the coins and their sellers. In your case: it seems that you can't loose anything except the most valuable in Live: your time.
NGC says these are the most counterfeited coins they get in. If that is real, theres a high probability that's a stock photo and you get sent something else. Nobody is giving these away for $50.
Call me skeptical. The same seller also sold another one for $10.00, two bronze colored flying eagle cents for $14.00 each and a few one cent 1790 issues for $10.00 each. It just doesn't pass the smell test. Edit; forgot to mention as of today their rating is (1) and the other one that sold for $10.00 was "Buy it now".
If it seems too good to be true it most likely is (a fake) As already mentioned the country of origin is enough for me to steer clear. Good luck with that one....
