Is this an error on this nickel?

    I Have this nickel that doesnt have an outer rim on it and the thikness of one side of the coin is a little thiner than a regular nickel, is this errors? The nickel is a 1986p. I could hardly read the In God We trust And The liberty motto. any help would help out.

    Maybe, someone just ground it down on one end with a grinder, to use as a tool or spacer. Traci

    ive got a statehood quarter like this. it could be rubbing. like it was just worn off. you'll see this in alot of older coins that have this. im not sure on how to insert pictures on a reply, so i cant show you what i mean with the statehood quarter.
