Trade Dollar Polished to Smithereens!

Unbelievable that this Trade Dollar is getting so many bids, am I missing something? I know it's a rare coin but wth? Is it silver plated as well as polished? It's up to $400, that's amazing!

It looks plated. And it hurts my heart

 

I wouldn't pay more than $50 for it.

 

I need one for my type set and I wouldn't buy this one.

 

Sametrying to find a nice circulated example for $100 or less.

 

It is junk. Selling this as a trade dollar is a crime.

 

I don’t think it’s plated. If it was,the minor marks should shiny. This coin appears heavily polished.

That is the work of a polishing wheel and red rouge. That stuff will put a shine on a hundred year old tin can. Great for auto work. Not so much for coins.

 

Haven’t thought about this product for a long time. It’s fantastic on soft metals, ok on thick rough acrylic enamel to knock it down (use it lightly), do not use it on clear coat or thin acrylic paint!

 

It’s a proof coin (now), the only 74-CC proof known to exist ;-)

I think that somewhere in that thing is a genuine trade dollar.

 

The morons that are bidding on it obviously can't tell the difference between polished to death and brilliant uncirculated, they probably think they're getting a one-time chance at this "Mint state" piece. Poor suckers....

 

Interesting coin. The devices look polished but the fields look like they were messed with in a different way.

 

Gotta agree, it hurts my heart as well and I'm not even a Trade Dollar collector at all. To polish a rare coin is almost criminal! j/k
