1983 D Minted Penny

    This penny looks strange to me. Dose anyone know if this is normal ?

    Don't look to toning as a "factor of interest" as to rarity. Toning has no effect on price of a common coin, unless its REALLY lustrous or rainbow toned.

    The coin of interest probably has just started to tone back to brown; nothing special there.

    Still a neat look to that coin in your avatar; just because it isn't worth money doesn't mean its not interesting or cool. :eek:

    thanks, I was told it was not worth anything more than a cent and it was a 'keeper'

    Many of these had a brass type color, some even say they are brass or yellow

    Many of these had a brass type color, some even say they are brass or yellow cents. Thus is most likley a wash or rinse type of planchet coloring error or the planchets were left in the plating to long. The patina you see is most likley a result of that.
