either you got silver proof or uncirculated. gold or platinum. each design is a very beautifu piece. don't you think so?. i like the reverse of the design for platinum. it changes every year. but i can not afford it. and don't collect this so called platinum. there were no coin for general circulating and make of platinum. do they?. well, i already had 1,000 pc of unc. silver eagle and some proof. also i got few gold eagle. that's it for my collection for american eagle series. i am bankrupt.
Platinum is sooo expensive. I have a complete set of the silver american eagle and I like the gold eagle too but don't have a source to acquire one at a good price.
Shatsi, the most I can afford is one tenth ounce ($5) gold eagle every year.I'm up to 6 now. Also,my sister, who was one of "those" who thought the world might end on 1/1/00,hoarded a bunch of '98 $10 eagles and gave me one. If you have 1000 silver Eagles, you're not really bankrupt..hehe
amercian eagle series i am really broke. keep buying coins and never like to sell them. i am in love with coins rather than women maybe.
For some reason I'm attracted to 1oz gold eagle coin, I only have one which I paid $425 begining of this year but now its about $460 I think!! Maybe the $5 eagle is the best way to go. Its about $50 where as the platinum 1/10 is about $150
american eagle the price of gold close near $450.00 an ounce. so, your gold piece should be around $480.00 for common one and higher for fewer mintage. my advise for women is that you should acquire 1/4 oz or 1/1o oz. in the event, you can change it to jewelry. i mean gold ring, gold bracelet, gold necklace. you must be rich?. he he he.
american eagle i bought around 1,000 pc of american eagle unc dollars during 1988 and 1992. i never open it up to see or check. those were in a tube of 20 coins each. well, since i can't see my coins. i always look at a dealer's window display to watch those american eagle silver dollars. how nice it is. it is the most beautiful coin on earth i guess.
"i am really broke. keep buying coins and never like to sell them. i am in love with coins rather than women maybe." If you had a woman, you would STILL be broke, AND have no coins!
american eagles it seems that the american eagle series were silent for a while. maybe collectors were enjoying the 50 statehood and westward nickels.
I like the design of the American Gold Eagle coins okay, but will not buy them because they aren't .999 fine and don't have that rich 'golden' look of PURE gold, (as compared to say a .9999 gold Canadian Maple Leaf). The AGE is alloyed and looks more like the color of a Krueggerand.
Well i wouldn't say they're the most beautiful coins in the world. Sorry but my heart was stolen by a Gothic Crown.
Aaaaahhhhhhh...the American Gold Eagle, so dear to my heart...I have been collecting these for quite sometime now. Up until a few weeks ago I would agree that they were the most beautiful gold coin..but this one has struck a soft spot in my heart of hearts. I am planning on saving up for one of these beauties!! I will repost my AGE collection in the near future. RickieB
It is very interesting to look at the AGE and gold maple leaf side by side. The maple leaf is lighter in color [more "golden"], because of the purity of the gold content. The AGE is larger, and in my opinion better designed. It's best to own one of each because each has its merits and the contrast is interesting.
Well I can say I just love the Eagles, silver ones that is,can't afford the larger gold ones but have been thinking about the 1/10th.I have,in a short period of time, amassed 8 pcgs ms69 eagles so far.I plan on finishing the set b4 moving on. One question about the 1/10th AGE.As far as bullion goes are they a good investment?I know most seem to want the 1 oz AGE or Maple but that is wayyyyyyy out of my $$$ range.I would like to get some gold but dont want to waste my money.
