What is this in top of head?

    I found this nickel with a strange marking on top of head I can't explain what it is. Is in a 1988P nickel. can you guys help and does it have any value?

    Looks like somebody clamped only the top of Jefferson's head in some sort of vice...

    Billy if it was done by somebody putting it on some sort of vice how come the reverse of the coin doesn't have any marks on the same spot were the other one is. Plus if I view the surface of the coin in a angle it looks kind of raised up. You could see the surface of it on the pics.

    It could be a struck through but kind of hard to tell from those photo's.
