After the long 6 hour drive, I returned home last night and caught up with my husband, my kitty, and my email! Phew, I'm glad to be home, but in just two days, I'm going to be packing up again getting ready to go camping for 5 days! Though I'm looking forward to camping and doing some offroading with my husband and friends over the Thanksgiving holiday, I will miss my own bed! At the show, I bought this most amazing error I think I've ever seen. Todd took photos so I'm just waiting for him to let me know when it's ready. I think most of you will be truly amazed at this piece.... And Todd and his dad Roger were set up just up the aisle from me doing onsite coin photography - it was a lot of fun having them there! Even though Thursday was quite busy, Friday was pretty slow, and unfortunately, I missed the rubberband wars on Friday Todd had with the guy across the aisle from him (there was lots of "evidence" of this little war strewn all over the their booth). I guess I must have been just too busy with real customers (he he he) to notice this mini Bunker Hill battle. However, I'm sure with some nice big strong rubberbands, I could have launched some lethal missile attacks from my table over to theirs! In any event, I'm not really sure how Todd found the time to engage in rb wars when I thought I was keeping him quite busy all by myself with all my new purchases! I think at one point I was bringing new coins over to him to photograph about every hour! I can tell you, even aside from the business I was giving Todd, and aside from the rb wars, he sure was busy most of the show. I think he will be filling a nice little niche that is long overdue! I believe he will also be setting up at Long Beach in June, so any of you who are attending that show, be sure to bring some of your coins for him to shoot - you will not be disappointed! The show turned out to be quite successful for most of the dealers I talked to, and for me, though I was pounding the pavement this morning trying to sell more coins just so I could afford that awesome error I bought. I ended up selling about $3,500 this morning, which is very unusual for me for a Sunday! I did buy quite a few Early America Copper and some beautiful Lincolns that I dropped off at PCGS. I also bought a couple other really neat Indian cent errors that I will be posting as soon as Todd lets me know they're ready. And something new for me, I am also getting into Conder tokens (look out Catbert!) which I find very fascinating. I found a couple beautiful ones in Baltimore and some more in Santa Clara, so I will be posting some of those soon too. I have ordered Conder's book and can't wait to read it to learn more about these neat tokens. As packed and busy as Saturday was, of course, Sunday was the opposite. It was pretty much a ghost town and the consensus among all of the dealers I spoke with is they would have preferred Expos Unlimited cancel Sunday instead of Thursday as a show day (keeping Wednesday as set up day). We're all very glad that Expos shortened the show by a day, but Expos told me the majority of the dealers voted to keep Sunday instead of Thursday, however, we are all scratching our heads as to who actually voted to do it this way. Oh well, we will just have to wait and see how it plays out. I personally like the Santa Clara show and enjoy being in Northern California for a few days. The show has always ended up being very good for me, I've been able to buy some great coins, and it especially gives me an opportunity to see all my NoCal friends, have some good food, and (as usual) play some poker at the local casinos! At this show, I had my son Troy with me who was a super great help! He is great at all the heavy lifting and knows how to set up and tear down my booth. Neither of my regular booth buddies could make it, so having Troy there made all the difference. It even allowed me to run around and do some shopping at the show, which is usually hard for me to get away from my table when I'm by myself. Plus, Troy likes playing poker too! Any way, again, it was great seeing and talking with all the CU and CT members that stopped by at this show and to hear about all their new purchases and experiences. It's especially fun seeing all the different coins and interests of the various members. I look forward to seeing more of you at the FUN show in January - and I hope each and every one of you have a wonderful Thanksgiving with your family and friends!
Sounds like a great show. We don't have the quantity of coin shows here in Michigan. The Fall MSNS show is coming up next week so I'll be looking forward to that. Notice to elongated collectors, I'll try to get some of the MSNS elongated cents to give away here on CT. Can't wait to see those new IHC errors.

Todd says ETA on my photos is 1-2 days! I must have given him 20-30 coins to photograph, including the WAY COOL ERROR! I can't wait to share this with you all! We won the first night (Troy played no limit and won $270, I played 6/12 limit and won $100), but then we gave it back the second night! We almost didn't go the second time because we were tired, guess we should have listened to our internal clocks!

I agree, we both had fun and entertainment, so that is worth something in my book. And no, we didn't play together - Troy played no limit on a separate table - I prefer limit games (I don't like the stress of putting all my money in on one hand)!

Just what I need, more competition. Now I know who he wanted a copy for. (Or did you order the copy McKiver had for sale? I've only seen a couple of copies available in the past fe years.) That book is useful but it is not so much for reading as it is an index that makes locating the tokens in Dalton & Hamer easier. And it only covers the English pieces. So you will still need a copy of D&H. If you don't have one hurry up and get it because it is out of print, most copies are already sold and the publisher says he has no plans for another reprint. (And he has sold the disbound original copy of D&H that was used for making the reprints.) Are you getting a copy of Waters Notes on the 18th century tokens as well?
Conder, I ordered the book through a dealer friend at Santa Clara who had an extra one in stock. As I mentioned, I'm just getting into these and would like to get all the reference material I can so I can learn more about them, so yes, I would like to get the D&H - can you help me find one? And I've never heard of Waters Notes, so how do I get that? BTW, I'm not planning on selling these pieces, they're just for me right now. What I really liked about them, besides they're being copper, is the intricate details each coin has and the very usually interesting (and sometimes historical) stories that go with each design. So any education I can get on these is MOST appreciated - thanks! p.s. I should have the photo of that ACG slab to you soon....
