I thought it was Very nice of them to do when they just found out I got into coins a month or two ago.. They took a gamble here but I think it paid off(Not knowing what to buy, possibly overpaying..). What do you guys think?
Well, with Mike(Illini420) and I's conclusion, we believe it grades XF due to the Liberty being mostly there.. So, Red book has that at a little over $50..
Now that I can see the photo of the coin, I don't think it's XF. Instead I think it's more like an F-15 to VF-20. Still pretty sweet for a gift though. The Redbook I'm looking at (2010 edition) shows it as a $50 coin in F and a $65 coin in VF. That said, not sure if it's just the photo or if it is the coin, but the reverse looks odd, lots of bright spots on the top edges of the design/lettering that make the coin appear to be cleaned. Could just be the photos though. The really big "O" mint mark is pretty sweet too.
I'm going to send it to you for grading. I really think pictures can mislead a lot of people into thinking a coin can be cleaned, I really do.. Like the 21-D Walker, it's just the way the photos came out.
Nice coin. The reverse image looks like it picked up a warm colored reflection from something. I would guess the color is actually much like the obverse. I'm thinking VF20. Being a gift from family would put it really high on my what's cool chart.
Nice looking coin. And Many Happy Birthday too.:loud:HAPPY BIRTHDATY BNB! and HAPPY THANKSGIVING TO ALL....112609
Thanks guys! That reflection is actually from the camera and NOT the coin. I looked at the coin just now and it looks fine.
My feelings would be it wouldn't grade at a TPG, it appears to have been cleaned. Better pictures would be needed to determine that though. Congrats on the coin, nice thing of your aunt and cousin to do
