William and Mary Halfcrown 1689

    hi thanks for all the help i got last time i have these , 2 William and Mary Halfcrown 1689 do these look good they look better than they look on the scan thanks if you can help.

    Right, i've seen it now! (I don't get time to check the other forums much).

    The pics are a bit small so it's hard to tell, if genuine and i see no reason why they shouldn't be as these things are quite common, they're not too bad. The first one is much better imho.

    Firstly you have both types of 1689 halfcrown there. If you look at the shields you'll note they are different. The second coin (the brighter one) is the earlier type with the shields of England and France separate. In that kind of condition it's worth about £20, it lists at £40 in Fine but i wouldn't grade that Fine myself. (Even with scan permitting).

    The darker one you've got pictured is much nicer, i even like the tone. This one is about Good Fine or just pushing at About Very Fine. And that would be worth about £60-£70 based upon that scan provided.

    Kasabian,which of these 2 1689 2/6's from England is the Type I one & which is the Type II one? I can see the difference in the first
    quarter of the English Coat-of-Arms.

    The Type 1 has the three lions and the fleur de lys separate. Type 2 is t'other one.

    Thanks for clarifying this for us,Sylvester.How's things been over there in your part of the British Commonwealth? Things are starting to warm up over here,as it is our Spring.Yes,we have to put our clocks forward 1 hour this weekend,due to daylight saving time.
