I'll be first to answer, apparently : 1000 + world coins 150 french coins 400 ancient 70 medieval All these are approximate Q
Alrighty, lets get down to the nitty gritty.... Around 350-400 U.S. Coins (Most of them are junk wheats, that I plan to sell in the future) Around 100-150 Foreign Coins ZERO Pieces of Dirt (Ancient Coins) 3 Liberty Dollars in hand, 6 on the way 5 Republic of Marshall Islands Commemoratives 1 Isle of Man Commemorative Alrighty, that is about all I got
Let's just say my collection fits in an Olympic-sized swimming pool. There's a whole lot of empty space in the pool afterwards, though.
41/73 - Barber Half collection 200+ Jefferson nickels Lots of randoms.. and my Kookaburra collection! About 500+ various pieces.
How many pieces...I have no idea and no intention to count. Space-wise.....I have one 6X3X3 foot safe absolutely full and a second one started. Guy~
I could fit all my coinage in a dresser drawer and still have space for my numisbooks, but I still think that it is a bit too big.
Just jotted down a quick count off the top of my head. It is between 600 and 675. I know them all well. They take up so much less space than a '55 2 door or a '63 split window.
I have roughly 725 items (counting a folder full of coins as one item). Roughly 250-300 of these are foreign (although, the majority numberwise are pocket change items that friends have given me, about 100 I have actually bought). About 100 of the total are half dollars, and the balance is random stuff.
Check your premises! I do not understand the question. What is a "coin"? It would not be a token, right? It would have to be metal... or not? Wooden coins? Paper coins? Porcelain coins? Carboard coins? Leather coins? Struck by a king? OK, how about by a pretender to the throne? How about by a republic? OK, can it be struck by a faction of a republic but in revolt? How about by a general in the field? How about by a group of merchants acting like a government... you know, like the British East India Company?... Then that brings us back to the token thing, right? So, a coin could be a token? Like a subway token? Just what is a "coin"?
Concepts are abstractions without measurement What do you mean by "big"? As indicated here already, the LxWxH of the place they would take ... if they were all in one place... Number of items? (Would a Whitman of Lincoln Cents PDS 1909-2009 be exactly 1 item?) Weight? We had that for one answer already. Value was a silly discussion we have had here about a zillion times. Important?? I mean like museum pieces, famous actions, coins with Names to them? I dunno, chief, I think we need to ask some questions before we pick a suspect.
When I got back into this hobby in April 2008, I had <20 coins in my neglected collection from 14 years ago. Now, for what I consider to be part of my actual collection, as of today........ - 591 U.S. coins worth a face value of $188.33. - 26 various British & Canadian silver coins. 1- 1987 BU Loon dollar. - An 09 Brittania, 09 British Shield proof set, 7 Kookaburras, several ASE's and other cool bullion rounds. - Some other good things.... I haven't purchased a single coin this month. Although it's been close. I'm going to try to make it the whole month now. Only 7 more days and one day is Thanksgiving.
