Years ago, I picked up 2 halfs from a guy who's father passed and he was looking to sell off what he inherited. The first piece I bought was a $10 liberty gold piece reasonable off ebay and I had asked if he had anything else he was thinking about listing on ebay. He mentioned the 2 bust halfs from blanchard and coins from Littleton along with some mint sets. I told him to put a list together with some prices and include the list in the package with his contact information. I contacted him and asked for a few pictures. I bought the 2 halfs and made him an offer on the rest of the stuff. He said ARE YOU SURE that's quite a bit more then what someone else was going to pay him. I rechecked my math and said if they are what you say as listed and pictured I'd be willing to pay $$. I didn't overpay for any of it. When I get back home from work I'll put up some pictures of the halfs and the experts can weigh in as to what variety and grade they are. With the blanchard carded halfs I took the written grade...backed it up grade 3 columns and used that as a guide. When I got a total for everything including some 20+ MS63/65 littleton coins and mint pieces, I took off another 15% from the total. I was willing to pay more buy the seller said I was considerably higher then the other guy. both seller and buyer were pleased with the deal.
