Hi all! Can anyone help me ID the reverse of this Carausius antoninianus? To me, the style of the coin looks like it's from the Rouen mint, and the reverse looks like Sol (?) Adv. r. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!
except there appears to be something [a captive?] to the left. similar to-- Carausius Æ Radiate. Unattributed mint, AD 287-293. IMP CAR[AVSIVS P F A]VG, radiate, draped and cuirassed bust to right / [ORIENS AVG], Sol standing to left, holding globe and raising hand, captive seated to left. RIC V.2 869; C. 186; Webb 968.
It is not Rouen (Rotomagnus) style, in my opinion. Rouen obverse style is very distinctive, like my coin below. Jaw line is sharper, less "jowly" on Rouen coins.
I was also wondering if the figure to the lower left could be a seated captive at first, but I thought I saw a curved line that could be a snake, like here: https://www.vcoins.com/en/stores/gb...vg__rouen_mint__rare_mint/137526/Default.aspx
