@potty dollar 1878 - What is the point of posting all of these ridiculous listings, here, if you can't do anything about removing the listings? All you're doing is widening the scope of the listings on the internet by mentioning them.

From what I've read, the Lincoln cent is the most produced and most collected coin in the world. It makes sense that many "newbies" start with cents, and then instead of studying the history, just start asking questions for anything that they've seen on U-Tube that's worth hundreds or thousands of dinero; and they think they have one of those. Most CT members use restraint and patience in replying, and hopefully get the "newbie" to do some valid research on their own.

I don't think the problem lies with the coin (penny) as mentioned they are probably the most collected coins focused on by new collectors if only because of price :D
The problem lies in the whole belief that they have found a totaly rarity worth lots of money cause uncle joe told em so.. a dream that often persists for years while said coin sits in the back of a jewely box or drawer somewhere... finaly this person decides it's time to "check" the value and just won't accept the answer that it is common junk. They have no background knowledge to understand that they are being told the truth so assume you're out to rob them... on the other hand a few listen and learn, joining our community... but yeah.. most of em just a PITB lol

It's not the pennies that are stupid.... Pennies can be ugly or beautiful, very valuable or almost worthless. You can rate pennies many ways and argue their finer points but you must agree that they simply lack measurable intelligence.
Here are some ugly ones to peruse while you think about it.

hey @SensibleSal66 i was a "newbie" some time ago and although i didn't create a new thread asking about a Lincoln penny, i did start my coin error campaign with the penny. reason? i didn't have a lot of money in the bank and yes @1stSgt22 lol, i too was looking to get rich quick because i knew i was gonna find something great. i think just about everybody that seeks error coins is that way. good luck to everyone

I agree with most people but I'm nothing near a Newbie having collected coins for over 40 plus years and never once thought I would get Rich . Just enjoyed collecting the coins an Uncle would give me . Maybe I didn't know better and besides Utube wasn't even invented yet . ;)

I'm not a newbie, and I don't know everything, but I do have a question that maybe someone can answer...
Having looked at the many pennies that have be photographed and entered here, if stores won't take them because they are damaged as shown above... What do we do with them if we don't want to keep them and put them in a jar somewhere? If we collect enough, will the Mint exchange them for us or do we just throw them away?

As long as they can be positively identified as U.S. coins they are legal!! If you don't want to try and spend them somewhere, just roll them up and take them to the bank!!!

I tried to take them to my Credit Union to a teller, but she said they don't take coins, that I would have to put them in one of the coin machines to get the info to deposit them.. So I tried. Their stupid machine wouldn't take them either. Now what?
