So I got this in 2017 and did not pay much attention to it. I decided to look it up and I can find a bronze one for sale and a Gold one given to the Queen. I can not find any Silver one which is what I have... The Bronze one is here: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/MEDAILLE...switzerland-MEDAL-Merian-Garten-/152305760559 And the Gold on is : Presented to Queen Elizabeth II by Richard Tschan, Chairman of Grün 80, during her State Visit to Switzerland 29th April - 2nd May 1980. https://www.rct.uk/collection/445533/switzerland-medal-commemorating-grun-80-basel Type: Médailles étrangères Métal: Bronze Année: 1980 Genre: grün basel Thème: Patrimoine culturel Epoque: 1980 Now I have the Silver one, I wanted a coin while there and this is what I chose but I can find nothing on it... Its the same thing but in Silver.. Any thoughts on this or how to locate information on it? Thanks
It very well could be plated, it was not super expensive but enough that it should have been silver. I got in a coin store in Basel. I do not see how to open it without issues. I just have searched a lot to find information on it, and I come up short. It is a very interesting piece from an interesting trip.
I have a number of pieces where the item I purchased brings back memories of something worth more than the item I purchased.
Yeah that is what I will do with it I guess. Memories. Heck it might not be Silver even, who knows but not common for sure and there are bronze ones out there so maybe a few silver ones as well, hopefully mine is.
