What I see in hand... the sides of the "ponytail" have the same texture as the frosted part of the cent. The gap in the "ponytail" looks greenish.
Gosh, I just HATE that acorn-nut thing posing as a "shield"...bad. If the Lincoln Memorial pre-2009 isn't coming back...and in this day/age given its history in the civil rights movement, MLK and other similar/associated things, can't figure out why not...they ought to change it to something/anything else Lincoln-related, like a closer-up, more detailed rendition of Lincoln sitting in the Memorial...and/or one of his historical speech quotes, if only in part ("...of, by and for the people...shall not perish from the earth..." etc...or even one of the 2009 Lincoln-life reverses.
No doubt you will not see a change in the reverse until 2159, in keeping with the U.S. Mint's practice of celebrating every 50 years of Lincoln's birth. Unless of course if "pennies" would not be struck for circulation anymore (see Canada), then a "new" Lincoln would hopefully be struck for collectors only (can't see the Mint pass up an opportunity for some profit). Then, perhaps, we would see a new reverse, and a return to the same composition as pre-1982 and as featured on special 2009 Lincolns. Zincoln's nevermore!
Lincoln must have an alien implant so the government can track him. As far as the Lincoln cent proof coins I'd like to know why the don't make them with original alloy instead of plated zinc. If they did the coins would last a long time unlike the current alloy that if there is a minor issue with plating they corrode from the inside out.
If they did they'd have to order the different alloy planchets. For us collectors, they'd probably double the price of proof sets and make even more profit.
hey @dollar great pictures. seems you have that art well in hand. great coin to. to me it looks like some kind of material that was caught in the minting process. again, great pictures. good luck to ya
I'd like to see the original 'Eagle Reverse' Washington quarters come back. The 'state' series was fine but now, imo, they're searching for things now and has gotten out of hand. Again, just my opinion. I'm definitely bias. The 'silver Washingtons' have always been my favorite.
