This is an excerpt from Spinks 2005 that you may find interesting as well.

'Short Cross' Coinage of Henry II (1180-1189 CE )

In 1180 a coinage of a new type, known as the short cross coinage, replaced the Tealby issue. The new coinage is remarkable in that it covers not only the later part of the reign of Henry II, but also the reigns of his sons Richard and John and on into the reign of his grandson Henry III, and the entire issue bears the name HENRICVS. There are no English Coins with the names of Richard or John.

The best one to try and keep your eye out for would be Spink 1345 Class 1 C a Fine example is listing at 45GBP but I have seen many go for less, just be wary of all the reproductions floating around.

To add further to that, the Short Cross penny was replaced by the Long Crosss penny in 1247, and since Henry III was king that too said hENRICVS, but you'll note that this coinage continued on into the reign of Edward I also saying hENRICVS. It was only in 1279 that the 'new coinage' was introduced and it became EDWARD. Namewise the coinage had been static since about 1158 when the Tealby coinage was introduced replacing the dies of the previous reign.
