I have always advised people that they should be wairy about buying rolls off ebay. I just did it - i purchased an old roll with an Indian head on both ends. Oh well. Maybe I will get lucky.

Well either way you'll have that 10 minutes of excitement when it arrives and you go through it and then the rest of the day to be ticked off. LOL

Hate to ask, but what did you pay for the roll ? I have about 25 rolls, I would like to sell. I'm not trying to sell them here, just wondered what they were going for. Dealer offered me 50 cents a piece for the pennies, same dealer is selling them for 69 dollars a roll. Seems like one hell of a profit.

What types of rolls are they? Mixed Indian head and wheats. All Indian head or all wheat.
    Have you looked through them?

    How did you get them?

    How old are the wrappers?

    Sounds stimulating.

Can't get lucky without rolling the dice (or flipping a coin)!

So Good Luck and enjoy the hunt.

When you re-list them be sure to not mention not searching them.:kewl:

    The 100% feedback is because:
    1. The buyer thought he was not lucky this time
    2. The buyer knows he got what he bid on.
    3. The buyer knew the roll was junk, but bought one out of curiosity, like you.

They are all Indian heads. I bought them from my wifes uncle. They were loose. I have them in plastic tubes. There are no culls. Most are G 4 to VG 8. The later dates are better with full liberty on some so there are some better grades in the 1890 to 1909 range I really haven't had the time to sort them by grade. Paid 80 cents a piece for them 2 years ago. I could put together a short set of every year from 1870-1909, I believe, without the 1877 of course. I bought them to keep my wifes uncle from selling them for next to nothing to a dealer in Virginia, where he went on vacation.

The 1870, 1871, 1873, and 1878 are worth at least $20/each if they are at least G4 and maybe more if they can make it to VG8. I assume that you don't have a 1908S or 1909S.

You are correct, no 1908 or 9 S. I probably have a whole roll of 09 and 08. I checked those right away for mintmarks no luck, LOL. Thanks for the update. The only luck I've ever had searching rolls was a year ago when I bought a roll of Mercury Dimes for 50$. Wasn't going to buy them but one of the rolls was marked 1916-1925. There were 6 1916 in the roll. All were S mint mark. My heart was thumping, though, when I turned them over looking for that D. There were 2 1921 and 1 1921D in the roll though. VG8 at best. With the price of silver today, I'm kicking myself for not buying the other 5 rolls she had, even though they were later dates. 10-1 face today is a bargain. We all have 20 20 hindsight.
