1800/79 overdate, decent example, some deep scratches across the front but it's the date that really matters on this one. got it for $41, what do ya'll think? 20210210_194331.jpg 20210210_194310.jpg 1613003979042.jpg 20210210_194357.jpg 20210210_194417.jpg

That is one great looking overdate coin! The date is very clear and the details show easily. Yes, you practically stole it.

Looks like S-193 (early die stage). There are actually 6 different overdate obverses for this year that combine to create 11 different overdate varieties, S-190 - 196 and NC-1, 2, 5, & 6.

Pretty sure it is an S-193, the seller didn't have it listed as any particular variety but just as an overdate large cent... Probably helped keep the price down lol

S-192 and S-193 share the same obv die, and I'm sure about the obv. Both varieties typically have diagnostic die cracks on the reverse, but they also both exist in an early die stage with no cracks. I went with S-193 due to the stemless leaves below NT in CENT. on 192 those leaves have stems joining them to the wreath.
