Considering how much money they charge for what is basically, just an expert opinion, per coin, it does seem like the gradiing services should offer more feedback.
Mark that's one of the best struck 1916 SLQs I've seen , and deserving of a FH designation , Beautiful .:eat: rzage:hatch::hammer:
Right After I win the Lotto Right After I win the Lotto. Well, that just put me right off my feed. :eat: I have many "similar" home held quarters. NOT! You just turned my collection into bullion with this example. & great photos, so ThanX!!!!! Thanky you for my reorientation.:vanish: That is what it's all about and now all my collection is...........silver.
The olny difference I see between the AU55 and the MS65 is that the AU55 does look cleaner but why not then rate it a MS65(CLEANED). I think that AU55 is a much, much too low grade. They're both just so equally good looking. ??????????????????????????????????:goofer:
Third party graders are like baseball umpires, they don't always get it right. But you did the right thing, you were confident of your own expertise, enough so to send it back to a new crew. An interesting story..with a nice ending.
Both are great looking coins. I can't see any signs of overt cleaning on Matts coin. Are you going to keep or sell it? And Mark, I guess that's coin's a keeper. Bruce
It takes a lot of effort and work to keep on top of the important aspects of SLQ's and frankly, I haven't had the time, money or emotional energy. It was a lot easier when I shared all this with my kids. That was the incentive to really dig and share. I still like to share but have a lot less to say with any authority. Ruben
If helps if you keep them on the net? You brought a CAC stickered coin ... I pass those over, regardless of anything.
If you want to automatically pass over a coin that one of the top numismatists/graders has approved of, that's your business, though it makes no sense to me.
There not graders, they grade the graders...and yes...just like toxic asset derivatives and for the same reason. Ruben
Wonderful example of a rareish coin. I still don't think it is FH though. That strike, however, has other important aspects that make it tops. Ruben
Just about everyone who looks at a coin before purchasing it is "grading the graders". And on many occasions they have caught things that that other graders missed. To automatically pass on coins that have received a thumbs up from two expert organizations and not just one, boggles my mind. If it were because such a coin would cost you more, I could understand. But that's not what you said. Still, to each his own. Do you also automatically pass on coins that were formerly in NGC holders but were crossed over to PCGS holders? Edited to add: Your "toxic asset derivatives" analogy is lost on me, as well.
But not everyone gets paid for it....big difference. Yeah - I know, but I just don't have the energy to give this lecture again. Google it. Ruben
I don't need to Google it to see that it is way off base. So, to make sure I have this straight... For example, you see a coin graded Ms65 by expert A, and if you like it, want it and the price is right, you'll buy it. But if you know that the identical coin was also examined by expert B, who agreed with the grade, and the price is identical, you'll automatically pass on it?
How novel and original must be each new mans view of the universe - for though the world is so old - and so many books have been written - each object appears wholly undescribed to our experience - each field of thought wholly unexplored - the whole world is an America - a New World. ~ Henry David Thoreau Quotes ~~~~~~~~~~ Even better ... The universe is full of magical things patiently waiting for our wits to grow sharper. Author: Eden Phillpotts
