2022 Quarters Honoring Women First 2 designs picked

    Got an eMail from the mint which said they have chosen the first 2 women to be honored on the 2022 Quarter. Maya Angelou and Sally Ride. Also found this paragraph to be interesting

    "The obverse (heads) of coins in this program will continue to feature a likeness of George Washington designed in a manner to distinguish it from the current image."

    This could go either way.......

    Sally Ride was the first AMERICAN woman to go into space and Maya Angelou was a poet and US poet Laureate.

    I remember reading Maya Angelou poetry in middle school.

    Both worthy subjects - my feelings about the never-ending quarter program not withstanding.

    The commemorative was not for MS. Ride but for the astronauts who died in the space shuttle. Her name was Christy McAuliffe
