So tell me. What keeps us in this crazy hobby?

I'll save you the cost of a study. We collect because we enjoy it. Frankly it doesn't matter that much to me what happens with my collection after I die and I'm no longer around to enjoy it. If my heirs decide to cherish it (yeah right) that's fine, if they decide to sell it and pocket the money that's OK too. If they sell for a fraction of what it's worth, that's their problem, it doesn't matter to me because I'm not getting any of the money out of it. If they spend them, well then more people can have the fun and enjoyment of finding them. But for right now while I'm still around I'm going to keep on collecting because it gives me pleasure.

Sounds ideal to me. I'd have just stopped paying hundreds of dollars for them and intensified my searching at yard sales and swap meets. It's like the question how would you feel if the bottom dropped out of the coin market. I'd be thrilled because now I could buy a lot more. Sure the value of my collection would go down as well, but so what I'm not selling it. Yes but your heirs won't get as much for it. So what, they don't have anything in it either so no matter what they get it's pure windfall profit. That's ike being unexpectedly being left $5,000 in a will and being upset because the deceased didn't leave you $10,000.
