It has been anoying me, a little, that my new camera can't out shoot my fathers 15 year old marco lens. So I got two exceptional Ikes from this last mint set and I did some experimenting. I think one will grade as a MS66 at least, because they are exceptionally clean. First the Canon T3 with the macro lense.

These first ones are from a high angle. Sometimes I tilt to get a part of the rim, but these are from straight up. ike_t3_p_o.1_hiangle.png ike_t3_p_r.1_hiangle.png ike_t3_d_o.1_hiangle.png ike_t3_d_r.1_hiangle.png

You can see why I want to wash the spot off the 1973-D. Except for the spots, it is an exceptional gem.

These are also from the T3 with the Marco lens and on a 15° plus tiit. The earth is from the reverse of the D. ike_t3_d_r.3.jpg ike_t3_d_r.2.jpg ike_t3_d_r.1.a.png ike_t3_d_r.1.jpg ike_t3_d_r.1.png

Now - the new GX9 Mark II - which is a point and shoot with a huge sensor

I can't get a tight image though, with it, even if I get much closer to the coin. And I can't seem to manual focus it tightly. These are all of the D coin. All are significantly color fixed. ike_g9x_d_r.3.png ike_g9x_d_r.2.png ike_g9x_d_r.1.png ike_g9x_d_o.4.png ike_g9x_d_o.3.png ike_g9x_d_o.2.png

Nice pictures, they're all better than anything my cameras can take. Have you tried ezest to get rid of the spot?

Also I understand your pain with the new camera. A while ago I got a new Canon Vixia to take photos/videos of coins to replace my Samsung S9. My mom gave it to me after 4 years of not using it at all. Not only is it harder to handle and has less options, but the quality is somehow lower than my phone camera. Also makes this annoying beeping sound in the video.

It's not the camera. It's the quality of the lens that's important.

I thought it was both, especially since film has so much more data that sensors.
