Old Jefferson Nickels: Keep or Spend?

Going through my stash of coins and have about five rolls of old Jefferson Nickels that I've plucked from circulation over the years, (a lot from the 1940s and 50s) there's nothing of great value in any of the tubes, no Wartime Nickels, nothing rare and nothing in amazing condition and was just going to put them in rolls and deposit them in the bank but wanted to ask first if there's any reason to not do that and maybe see if there's any collector value whatsoever..

It seems like they're only worth a bit more than five-cents so wouldn't really be worth it to me (or anyone else) to bother spending any time trying to sell them .. maybe just releasing them into the wild, some young 'un will find them and get into collecting...

    Keep or Spend?

    Thx :)

I kept them for a long time and just recently shared them with my 21 great grandkids.

I've kept everything '45 and under, kicked everything else. My 2 cents, or is that 5 cents? Lol

I always keep pre 1960's also. I know they don't have much value at all but I still like to keep them. Heck they are at least over 60 yrs old. Lol

Five rolls? $10!!! Why don't you check with the local schools to see if they have a coin club, and you can donate them.

I keep some of the low mintage ones, but like the higher mintage ones like 1941, 1946, 1954D. I send them on their way, too many of them in worn condition.

I'm keeping only my '32 to '73 uncirculated set and found war nickels.

Thanks for the replies.. I looked through them and most of them are going to the bank.. I found a few lower mintage years but they're not in great shape but will keep them just the same :)

Just want to get rid of stuff that's just taking up space..

Sell them on eBay. I'm always surprised what people will buy and pay extra for.

I keep the low mintage coins, war nicks, and search for the few varieties that I know of. Other than that, they all go back.
