1944 LWC Missing A Bit Of The Reverse

Double Die I know just enough to be dangerous

Aside from the environmental damage this average 1944 coin has, what was the cause for the big gaping wound on the reverse? I'm torn between defective planchet, struck through, or lamination (pre or post strike)? Unfortunately, I don't have my scale handy to weigh it.

What is the verdict from my peers?

It could be something but to me it looks like corrosion has done its job.

The striated lines have me leaning towards lamination, but I guess corrosion is another possibility?

All the pitting makes it look like acid damage.

Looks like a lamination error to me. But over time it has been damaged by several sources.

I'm thinking lamination, but it almost seems that it was struck after the lamination came off...

Can you post a closer photo of the damage on the obverse?
