Hello all im new here , realy glad to have found this place. wonder if anyone can help me on something I find lot of the best deals for coins can be found of usa websites. The trouble is the cost to transfer money seems to be expensive and the shipping costs seem to be double what they are to send from uk to usa. This all in all cuts into any benifit i have by purchasing from there. As we all know the % profit on bullion coins is very small anyway and these costs just eat away at whatever profit there might be.So my questions are 1.whats the most economical way to purchase from the usa sending items to uk. 2.does anyone know of a bullion dealer in uk that can match the price i can get 1900's kings gold soveriegns from. a couple of sites are as low as 3% over spot.for a coin with numistic value as well as bullion thats a great price.but sadly for buying just 20 or so the extra costs involved just eat the benifit away. Also looking for a regular supplier of 1 gram gold bullion bars.i know first thing someone will say is why you buy such a small bar well truth is i make more of each of them than i do off a sovereign. any help appreciated jimmy ps. do i get to join the competition thingy now hehe
There really isn't a way to save money on shipments over seas. With the world the way it is, many dealers have suspended shipments outside of the US. Sorry, but that is the way it is.
One thing you can do is find sellers who accept Paypal, which you can join in the UK and make payments in $ at a reasonably good exchange rate. Going the other way I have a couple of friends to whom I send funds via Paypal, and then they make payments for me in £ and have the dealer ship direct to me. Just bear in mind, there are many more ways to kill a cat than choking it to death with butter.
I'm not a dealer but I think its because the cost of shipping and the insurance on things like that. Speedy
The biggest problem isn't getting the funds. It is the insurance and shipping fees. You end up spending as much for that as you do the coins. Bullion is exceptionally tough. No carrier will insure coins. None insure bullion. So that means if it gets lost, it is too bad, so sad. Customs is a real pain in the well you get the idea. You have to list the contents, so everyone knows what is inside. It doesn't take much for someone to open the package and the dealer gets the short end of the stick.
yeah thats what i been finding out. i have one dealer that posts me some bars but trying to get anyone to post eagles is a nightmare.i asked one guy on ebay who was shifting green monster amounts daily and he said that so much of it goes missing.its a disgrace realy that you cant trust to not steal off you. to be honest i could get a flight to usa for 199 pounds i might just do that and just haul it all back in a holdall.its the way customs looks at you though people think your some kinda drug dealer or money launderer
Transporting coins these days is very risky. I make a trip or two to Europe each year to buy back our gold. It is getting to the point that it really isn't worth it. Let some idiot find out your are transporting gold and every moron in the airport wants to rob you.
"Just bear in mind, there are many more ways to kill a cat than choking it to death with butter" Can you elaborate on this......... I hate cats (they eat little helpless toads) and Ive run out of creative ideas........ The butter thing sounds kinda nice tho :-D do you suggest like using a whole stick? :-D
"Just bear in mind, there are many more ways to kill a cat than choking it to death with butter", Satootoko. "I hate cats", Tripper theToad. Can't we just get along. Next thing you know the dogs will get into this and we don't want to let the dogs out.
Actually, you don't have to list the contents on the outside if you don't want to. You can include a different form with the contents list inside the package and just attach the top half of the green form to the outside. If the value is over $400 you have to do it that way according to the instructions on Postal Service form 2976. Among other nasty habits.
Thinking about this maybe there is a good market to be made in doing just that, transporting bullion personaly from usa to uk.You could carry enough to justify all the insurance/postage costs all are having to pay and be able then to sell here cheaper thatn anyone else. Its something im going to look into you cut out the transfer of funds, the insurance, the postage and can carry a good amount with you. you also cancel out the hassle of actually trying to get a hold of the coins in the first place from a cheap usa dealer.flights are cheap enough to.And as you would just go from airport to dealer to airport very little risk of being robbed indeed. its definetly something to consider
Nice booze-drinking cat picture. That is a very nice booze-drinking cat picture. That is also very clever. Aidan.
